I have been learning Northern Shaolin Chuen Fa for many years and still find the art filled with many surprises. Just when I thought I have practised the stroke well, I discovered that the stroke has another way to use in Self Defence...... .
There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed. I started learning Northern Shaolin Chuen Fa when I turned 60 years old.
Despite my busy work schedule, I will always make my way to go for my training. The Art has helped me not only reduce the build-up stress from work, but also pushes me to build my physical structure. More importantly, I am always glad to have made it for class than not!
I started out just by following a friend for a trail lesson. I was really thrilled by what was taught to me and am now a regular student of Northern Shaolin Chuen Fa. The monotonous moves practised in the form transformed totally when applied in a self-defence scenario. The Art really opens up my horizon and expands my knowledge about self-defence and fighting!
I am a returned student. I first started learning the Art when I was a teenager and stopped after 2 years in training. After working 2 decades and being not young anymore, I do realized the importance of maintaining a healthy body. I tried a few martial arts, sport and fitness program. I am back training with Northern Shaolin Chuen Fa either because I am familiar with it, or actually a bigger factor is the Art also trains my agility and response.
